While many countries have introduced policies and regulations to address aircraft CO2 emissions and noise over the years, the overall environmental impact of aviation is significant, and its climate impact will continue to grow rapidly unless immediate action is taken. Some countries have led with measures such as taxation or market instruments. However, aviation is an international sector and benefits from a coordinated response that effectively tackles the sector’s international emissions. ICSA works with the United Nations International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to promote such a response.
